Autumn Concert
Date: Saturday 19th October 2024
Venue: Buckland Community Centre
For this concert we were joined by guest performers from the Riga Children's and Youth Centre 'Altona' Flamenco Dance Studio.
Dancers: Justīne Ilstere, Margarita Grahovska and Viktorija Banņikova with Principal Santa Kasatkina.
Santa has been dancing and teaching flamenco for 25 years to youth and adults. She was inspired to create the flamenco choreography for Ravel's Boléro with an orchestra after seeing a ballet performance of Ravel's version for the traditional Spanish folk dance bolero, which shares elements with flamenco, such as accentuated footwork and complicated rhythm with castanets.

In the second part or the concert, Flamenco Dance Studio performed a Flamenco Tangos dance, accompanied by music from the popular song Rosa Maria by Camarón De La Isla, Paco de Lucía and Ramón De Algeciras.
